Biography
Paul Rand is an Investment Manager and Legal Counsel in Bentham IMF's Toronto office. He has more than 15 years of experience as a litigator, a manager of commercial litigation matters in-house, and most recently as counsel to clients on sophisticated financing transactions.
Before Bentham, Paul was a member the capital markets team at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP. He has held in-house positions with Royal Bank of Canada, first as counsel managing a portfolio of litigation, and later as senior counsel advising on complex transactional and regulatory matters. He began his career with the litigation group of the firm that is now Norton Rose Fulbright Canada.
At Bentham, Paul assesses investment opportunities involving commercial claims, and works with law firms and corporate groups looking for innovation in how they manage litigation assets.
Paul has been recognized as "repeatedly recommended" in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory 2018 in connection with derivatives instruments, and co-authored The Law of Fraud in Canada. Paul earned his law degree from University of Western Ontario and his bachelor’s degree from Queen's University.
